um, um, um, soooo...

Black Seeds gig (yess, this is going back in time, but i actually not talked bout it yet fewl).
- Nice. different. changes. Awesome. contact was made.
- Anna and i lined up at 10, got in when doors opened at 1030, and planted ourselves centrefront. word.
- Dubwise opened, which was just Messenjah and Papalevi. That guy has the longest dreads in the entirety of the universe. they went down to his calves. calves . Good MC, lots of words ended in 'um', and he wasnt too aggressive, all about the peace/love/marijuana, and didnt use the graffic metaphors often displayed in MC raggamuffins of his genre. the crowd pumped.

- The B/S lineup has changed- First, Toby Laing left to play for Ffd (a sad sad blow), but the new guy has really taken up his place and is awesome (hitting the high loud notes). great. Then the drummer and bassist changed. both filling the space quite nicely also. However, on Saturday Mike Fabulous was playing bass. Yes!? Barney was on guitar the whole time, and Brett (sobsob wasnt there) was replaced by an uber funky blondeguy. so wasnt so hurt that it was different. obviously we fear change, but i wasnt too crushed.

- So, i was so close to Barney that when he bent down to change his guitar pedal i couldv pat him on the head. i didnt (obviously). And music aside, he was so sexy i couldv quite easily had his babies right there and then. easily.

- They opened with Tuktuk , which is instrumental, and slow and developey and a good crowd warmer. it opens the CD aswell so that was all exciting and good. This gig as a whole was more instrumental, possibly becasue just Barn was playing guitar. All the pieces were alot slower, on CD most play at about 120, which is so tiring on your wrists (as a drummmer) even at quaver styles, so i can understand why. plus there wasnt a need to play fast. the crowd werent hungry for them, and that reflected in the music. there were some quite moments, and they took there time to set the pace between songs. Fire was really warming (hoohoo with the puns), and So True beautiful.

- Encore was Coming Back Home . started with a sweet solo from Barn. That was all, which was dissapointing. they obviously werent 'feeling it' from Chch to play another.

- As a whole, the gig made me smile and swell up inside, and it brought me to the happy alice place that only certain things can. an experience that cant be taken away by anybody type thing.

OH but did i tell about the 'connection?' (alice, this is the highlight of the night, pray, do tell)...
So, the Seeds up and leave. Anna and I, who had been eyeing the drummer all night (he was literally at the same eye level as us so it was impossible to missus really), are still hanging onto the front of the stage.

"Please come back"
[drummer turns around]
"PLLLLEEEEAAse come back"
"I cant. sorry *shrugs a little shruggy shrug*"
"for us. please?"
"*smiles* Sorry."

This went on for a while ("please? no. Please? no. Please? no...").
There was talky talk! i talky talked to the drummer!!! sure, he was about 3 meters away from me, but there was a connection. i talked. he replied. wiki.

Painting
Its hard. hard and competitive. rodger expects us to be competitive. We're painting with oils (ah, i know, intense for the first day), and theres no ventilation in the room so it gives me major head swells. aparently theyv changed the intake- they'r letting in 14 for 2nd year now, because 30 people are applying. they are still going to drop up to 5 in first term of next year, so there's 9 people, but still. have to be in the top 5 in my class to even be considered.

and its just so damn exciting.

Brett was on Homegrown tonight as VK. ahhhh, bless.
